The Great War, with its litany of horrors, was the scene of an unprecedented unleashing of violence and stands as one of the most traumatic episodes in our contemporary history. This barbarity has left an indelible mark on our collective memory. The daily life in the trenches, a General Staff disconnected from reality, the insignificance of human life—all these traumas have continued to haunt and inspire the imagination of artists, whether writers, painters, or poets. Filmmakers, by embracing the mythology of this "dirty war" and thanks to the power of the filmed image, have delivered a representation that closely reflects the reality of this chaos.
Through exclusive testimonies and numerous film excerpts, FILMING CHAOS meets with directors, authors and actors who have faced the challenge of staging 14-18, to better tell us the personal stories that made history.
Starring Annette Becker, Tony Bill, Iris Bry, Christian Carion, Albert Dupontel, Marc Dugain, James B. Harris, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Nikolai Müllerschon, Sylvie Pialat, Bertrand Tavernier, Philippe Torreton and Susan Vercellino.
