Organized crime has always been a source of inspiration for cinema, ever since the first gangster films of the sound era starring James Cagney and Paul Muni. More specifically, the heist film quickly established itself as a genre in its own right, with its own characters and conventions. From "Point Break" to "Hell or High Water," from "Heat" to "Now You See Me," this documentary paints a portrait of heists in film, but also analyzes the fascination that robbers hold for audiences, directors, and screenwriters. Why do we feature robbers? Whether they operate in the world of Westerns or in contemporary society, what do they have in common?
