PRISON(S)

Documentary series by Charlotte Lavocat / France / France Télévisions (2022)

No, in French prisons, there are no orange jumpsuits, no leg irons, and no large dining halls where meals are distributed. These images belong to American TV series and sensationalist documentaries (Prison Break, Orange is the New Black). So, what is daily life like in our prisons? Who are the men and women incarcerated in France? What is the reality of their imprisonment? Five episodes, five themes, showcasing five different sections and experiences of incarceration in France: the intake unit, juvenile detention, women's detention, the healthcare unit, and alternatives to incarceration.

Series (5 x 20'): March 20, 2022 on france.tv

Directed by Charlotte Lavocat.

Produced by Joachim Landau and Raphaël Rocher.
